Alberto Amarilla
He studied acting at ESAD Málaga, Directing and Playwriting at RESAD Madrid, a Master’s degree in audiovisual screenwriting from the International University of La Rioja and filmmaking at the Metrópolis Film School. Alberto has trained with masters such as Arnold Taraborrelli, Fernando Piernas, Sarah Kane, Philip Zarelli, Sol Garre, Graham Dixon…
He gained international recognition with “Mar adentro” (2004), directed by Alejandro Amenábar, a film that won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, in which he portrayed José, one of the characters close to Ramón Sampedro.
In 2006 he was nominated for the Goya Award for Best New Actor for “El camino de los ingleses” directed by Antonio Banderas. For his work in the series “Acusados” he was nominated in 2011 for the Actors’ Union Award as Best Supporting Actor in television. In 2013 he was nominated for the Actors’ Union Award as Best Supporting Actor in theater for “Lúcido” by Rafael Spregelburd, directed by Amelia Ochandiano. In 2022 he was nominated for the Actors’ Union Award as Best Supporting Actor in television for “La casa de papel”. In 2025 he received the Actors’ Union Award for Best Supporting Actor in theater for “Lorca Por Saura”.
On television he has worked in series such as “Gran Hotel”, “Hispania, la leyenda” and “Tiempos de guerra”, consolidating a steady presence in Spanish television fiction.
At the same time he has developed a career in theatre, participating in various stage productions and maintaining a performing trajectory that alternates between film, television and stage.
